My daughter's birthday is next week, but since family could only attend a party if we held it this weekend, the party is tomorrow. So our party will be celebrating Widget turning 4...and my husband's going away party (because he starts a project in Puerto Rico and will be gone for 4 weeks straight, then most of the rest of the year). Life has been a little hectic, but we've enjoyed having my bro-in-law here the whole week-and since he wants to see everything in Kansas City, we've been to a number of fun places: Union Station, Crown Center, The Plaza, Nelson-Atkins Museum, and Zona Rosa.
I realized something when I eat multiple times each week at restaurants, I miss cooking...I MISS cooking! I miss COOKING? This was quite a revelation...even though my husband has been telling since he took his current job, that he missed eating at home when he has to eat out at restaurants every night. Now, don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy having a night out (away from dirty dishes and such) but there is something very satisfying about creating a delicious meal that will be enjoyed by my family and friends...and give nourishment as well.
So, what does this have to do with Faithful Friday??? I'm not really sure, but let's see if I can make something up....
Ummm...when I work to improve my home, strengthen my family (both physically and spiritually) and continue practicing and learning talents, I draw closer to my Father in Heaven. Practicing my 'cooking skills,' among other things, improves my capabilities as a mother and helps my family be self-sufficient. I have faith that my talents and gifts are given from my Heavenly Father and He expects me to utilize and grow said talents to help my family, friends, and community. I'm so glad that I've been willing and able to cook for my family, and that I get to practice even more tomorrow evening for 11 people.
Now here's a little teaser for some of the decorations I made for the party:
Hope your Friday is as fun as ours plans to be!!!
