Faithful Friday

Hey friends!
Just wanted to take a moment to thank my Father in Heaven for all my many, many blessings. Today is a special day-not just because I'm alive (as well as my beautiful family), but because it is a day of celebration.

Sixty-two years ago today, a little boy named Michael Gordon was born to loving parents in the state of Utah. That little boy grew up to wear coke-bottle glasses and sport a full head of dark brown curls. After marriage, he and his wife adopted two crazy children. Many years and memories later, he married his second wife and 'inherited' three step-grandchildren. Not long after that, he danced with his daughter at her wedding reception and watched his son grin when his son's future wife walked down the isle. Then Michael's first grandchild was born and he was ecstatic to share the world with her. Although, he struggled with health issues, he still was a big part of his children's lives. Due to those health issues, Michael lost strength and agility and eventually needed to use an oxygen respirator. Eventually his mortal body ran out of stamina, and his spirit returned to live with God in 2010, at the young age of 60.
Sorry for the pic on it's side...

This story, my friends, is a short description of my Dad's life. Today is, in fact, his 62nd birthday...and I can't help but think of him. I think Dad would have enjoyed his birthday on Friday the 13th-totally enjoying the irony. We weren't always super close, but he never stopped loving me-or my brother-and he was a really great guy. I am glad that he had some happy memories and adventures in his 60 years; he deserved a little bit of peace considering other experiences that decorated his years. I am so very glad that I will see him again, and my daughter will get to spend more time with her Papa-because we will all return to live with our Heavenly Father after this life.
P.S. Today was also supposed to be the day that my sweet hubby was coming home from Puerto Rico (after 4 weeks), but he tried to get on an earlier flight-then that flight had technical problems causing him to miss even his original I guess we will see him tomorrow instead. I prayed (really intently) for the hubby to make it onto the earlier flight-and he did, boarding the plane twice, but never taking off. See, prayers really do come true :) Maybe I should have clarified----Actually I know it's more of God's will than mine, right?!? So I apparently needed to learn something....

Happy Birthday Daddy!
