Faithful Friday

The other night, while getting Widget ready for bed, she misbehaved and, in consequence, lost the privilege to have a story read that night. She proceeded to through a hissy-fit tantrum on her way from the bathroom to her bed. She was so worked up, that she yelled at me when I told her it was time to say her prayers.

I really REALLY felt like yelling back at her, as obviously my day had not been a super carefree one. But, much to my surprise, I kept my lips sealed very tight. I thought for a few moments (Widget's new favorite word: moment).

And when I finally opened my mouth, the words that came forth were not my own. I proceeded to explain to Widge that prayer is our way of talking to our Heavenly Father. It is a great privilege to communicate with Him, and thank Him for all of the blessings He gives us/created for us. I enjoy the time I spend just talking with my Heavenly Father (mostly) uninterrupted. It is an ability I cherish.

Widget looked at me for a long minute, then folded her arms very reverently, and began her prayer.

Like I said, the words that came out of my mouth- although I believe them wholeheartedly -were not my own. I believe that we receive help and inspiration from the Holy Ghost, especially when it will make the greatest impact.

I want to share with you my thanks and appreciation to my Heavenly Father - Isn't He awesome!

Hope your Cinco de Mayo is full of fun :)
