Fancy Friendship Bracelets & Giveaway Day #2

This week we are celebrating our Blog-iversary (or is it Blog-aversary?). We are giving away a number of items throughout the week, so make sure to stop by every day to enter the new giveaways :)

Do you remember making friendship bracelets out of string or floss when you were young(er)? I use to make friendship bracelets at the neighbors house-I remember sitting in my friends small upstairs bedroom with floss thread safety pinned to the knee of my pants, wrapping string around string, and listening to Boyz II Men...but only because my friend's older brothers thought they were super cool, and because they thought it was cool, we listened to it (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Now where was I...oh yes, friendship bracelets. The bracelets below are made with the only method I remember, but you can see a tutorial for a similar bracelet at Skip to my Lou.
I used some awesome taffeta fabric to make my bracelets, hence the funky color combos and chunky size. I love that the bracelets look like bangles, without being hard---and the colors make more visual interest in the knots.
I also braided silver chain with coral colored suede to make this dainty bracelet. I like the simplicity and touch of pink.
P.S. My husband just told me I could no longer take pictures of my hands in my pockets like this...apparently I did not know how awkward my hand looked when lacking a thumb. I'll show him! Next time I'm going to be missing even more digits ;)

Tasha actually made this necklace out of shells and turquoise colored beads. It's a great nature inspired piece that could go with a number of clothing options.

We are giving away each piece of jewelry shown in this post. All you need to do is leave one comment telling me what your staple jewelry item is-what you wear the most (specific piece, color, type, etc.). You do not need to be a Stalker (follower) of howdoulikethem.blogspot.com to win today's giveaway, but I'd love for you to become a Stalker (follower) anyway :)

The winner will be announced next Tuesday (giveaway will be open until Monday, August 13, at 10:00 pm MST). Good Luck! And remember to stop by every day the rest of this week for more giveaways!

  3. Love the bracelets! I would say that my staple piece of jewelry is a pair of earrings: silver, teardrop-shaped. They can be dressed up or down and are just big enough to be noticed without being the center of attention.
    Thanks for the generous giveaway.

  7. I wear my clauddagh ring all the time. It's got an amethyst (my birth stone) in the middle. I don't wear necklaces in the summer, but when it gets cooler outside I also wear a necklace I got from SoSoBella on Etsy that has a moon charm and says 'I love you to the moon and back.'
