Shopping Anyone?

Some of you may have seen this picture on my Wordless Wednesday post yesterday. I realize it's a bit confusing if you don't know what your looking at-so I'll explain it :)

There is a large fabric store, about a half hour away from our home, called Alonso Sobrino. Most fabric stores in Puerto Rico have decor fabric or fancy dress fabric (like shown), but rarely carry regular old cotton/quilting fabric. Alonso Sobrino does have approximately 3 of those round displays (display examples in picture) worth of Robert Kaufman fabric, which is 3xs the amount of cotton/quilting fabric than any other store I've been in here (except Walmart). Off to the left of where the picture was taken is another room (1/2 the size) full of jewelry making supplies, findings, beads, charms, precious stones, and cording. It is a fun place to go, even with screaming children...too many pretty things to look at.

Anyway, the coolest part about the store is usually the manikins. The store has a specific lady come in, about every 4 weeks or so, and 're-dress' the manikins. The dresses she makes, although hardly ever modest, are super interesting, colorful, and creative. The dresses are also made without a sewing machine or much cutting of any fabric. This lady takes a couple of yards (usually in one cut) of fabric and drapes, pins, tucks and fits each manikin with a trendy piece. This month there were extra manikins donning wedding dresses, you can see the picture on yesterday's post here.

And speaking of shopping, I'm having a Grand Re-Openning of my Etsy shop! Stop on by and use the code: HDULTA20 for 20% off you entire purchase from ZLilly.etsy.com. I will be adding new shirt/onesie listings, baby bracelets, interchangeable headband/hair accessories, and women's accessories in the coming weeks. Remember to start your holiday shopping early because the coupon code will be good off anything in the shop, until October 4, 2012. Please let me know if you have any questions. And, if you'd like to order a custom item, I will be happy to let you use your coupon code on it as well.
